Information we collect

Depending on how you use Brainreef, we may collect the following categories of information.

  • Full name, email address, phone number, college/institution, department/branch, academic year or semester, account credentials and other information required to create or manage your account.
  • Quiz responses, assessment answers, test scores, practice history, course/module completion, time spent on activities, performance information, readiness/progress information, coding activity and SQL practice activity.
  • Interview responses, interview questions and answers, interview scores, feedback, performance information, resume information where you choose to provide it, and other information submitted during an interview.
  • Transaction ID, payment status, amount paid, payment date and applicable plan/purchase information when you use a third-party payment provider.
  • IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, login information, pages/features accessed, session information, usage activity, error/diagnostic information and approximate location derived from technical information where applicable.

We may use cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure and improve the Platform.

How we use your information

Brainreef may use personal information to create and manage accounts, provide courses and learning resources, assessments, coding/SQL practice, AI interviews, feedback, company-specific preparation and progress tracking.

  • Identify areas of improvement and provide recommendations.
  • Generate performance insights and improve learning experiences.
  • Provide institutional services such as student progress tracking, department analytics, readiness reports and assessment results where applicable.
  • Provide support, security, fraud prevention, communications and Platform improvements.

AI processing

Some Brainreef features use artificial intelligence to provide interview practice, evaluation, feedback and recommendations. Information you submit may be processed by Brainreef and, where applicable, third-party technology or AI service providers used to operate that feature.

  • Evaluating answers
  • Generating feedback
  • Identifying areas for improvement
  • Generating recommendations
  • Supporting interview simulations

AI-generated feedback is intended for educational and practice purposes. Brainreef does not guarantee that AI-generated evaluations will always be accurate or error-free. Where third-party AI services are used, Brainreef will take appropriate steps to manage such processing in accordance with applicable agreements and law.

How we share information

Brainreef does not sell your personal information as a product. We may share or provide access to information where necessary with:

  • Participating colleges or institutions, where authorised and applicable.
  • Service providers for cloud hosting, payment processing, authentication, email/communications, analytics, AI processing, security and technical infrastructure.
  • Government, regulatory or other authorities where disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, protect rights, prevent fraud/abuse or protect Platform/user security.

Data security

Brainreef takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, loss, misuse, alteration and destruction. However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, maintain accounts and learning/assessment records, provide institutional services, meet legal/regulatory/accounting requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce agreements. When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymise or securely dispose of it, subject to applicable legal requirements.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law and your circumstances, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including:

  • Request access to personal information.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of information where legally applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Request information about how your data is processed.
  • Raise a privacy-related complaint.

Children's privacy

Brainreef is primarily intended for students pursuing higher education and other users preparing for academic or employment opportunities. If you are under the applicable age of consent under Indian law, you should use the Platform only with the involvement or authorisation of your parent, guardian or other legally authorised person where required. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

Cookies and analytics

Brainreef may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep users logged in, maintain sessions, improve functionality, understand Platform usage, measure performance, detect errors, improve user experience and maintain security.

We may use third-party analytics services to understand how users interact with the Platform. You may be able to control certain cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain technologies may affect Platform functionality.

Third-party services

Brainreef may integrate third-party services for payments, hosting, authentication, analytics, email delivery, AI services and other infrastructure. Your use of certain features may therefore also be subject to the terms and privacy policies of the relevant third-party provider.

Brainreef is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party services that you access outside Brainreef's control.

Data transfers

Some technology or service providers used by Brainreef may process information from locations outside India. Where personal information is transferred or processed outside India, Brainreef will take steps required under applicable law and applicable contractual arrangements.

Institutional users

When Brainreef is deployed by a college, university or other institution, the institution may determine certain aspects of how student information is collected and used within the institutional relationship.

Institutional users may have access to authorised analytics, assessment results, progress information or placement-related information. Such access will be governed by the applicable institutional agreement, Platform configuration and applicable law.

Data breaches

If Brainreef becomes aware of a personal-data security incident requiring notification under applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, contain and address the incident and provide notifications where legally required.

Changes to this policy

Brainreef may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Platform, new features, changes to data practices, technology or applicable law. When we update this Policy, we will update the “Last Updated” date. Where required by law, we may provide additional notice or obtain consent before implementing material changes.
